Emily Bostrom, MNTCW, RCC
As a Narrative therapist, Emily sees you as the expert of your own life. She believes you know your stories best and how your experiences have impacted you. Together you explore your stories, strengths, and values, illuminating strong stories that already exist. She is here to witness your stories, be curious, and deeply listen so you can be safely heard. In these therapeutic conversations, there are no assumptions, no labels, no categories. As we revise old stories we make less room for fear and failure and more room for new versions of stories to emerge. Emily is often listening for what you cannot accept and what you have resisted, as this can show what you value, what you protect, and what you are fighting for. Emily is passionate about relationships. This includes our relationships with ourselves, with culture and society, and our relationships with the intangible things – like our relationship with anger. She understands how our stories are so relational as well as fluid and ever-evolving. Emily continually seeks to take a wider view of a situation and explore the influences of culture and community on the challenges we face. Emily holds a Masters degree in Narrative Therapy and Community Work. She has worked in the mental health field for 19 years. A big part of her practice is offering narrative letter at the end of sessions reflecting on the conversation and to offer springboards to further therapeutic benefits. Emily is a registered clinical counsellor.
