Christine is joining Currents Counselling with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) degree.
Christine is interested in helping her clients through modalities as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy. However, Christine is also open to working with other modalities that align with the client’s personality and needs.
Christine has experience providing a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere for individuals in crisis situations. She takes a person-centred approach to help clients explore their struggles and strengths and focuses on creating a warm, supportive, and collaborative environment to help her clients feel respected and heard. Christine values the unique lived experiences of each individual and is passionate about uncovering confidence and resilience. Christine’s belief in the ability of individuals to overcome challenges and obstacles can help to instill hope in her clients.

Amy is a clinical counsellor at Currents Clinical Counselling in Kamloops. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) and brings over 17 years of experience working with children and adolescents as an educator and mentor. Amy has taught across a variety of settings in Montreal, Vancouver, and Kamloops, and currently teaches Theatre Arts and Film at South Kamloops Secondary School.
With a long-standing passion for supporting youth, Amy has a deep understanding of the developmental, emotional, and relational challenges that young people face. Her work is rooted in the belief that every individual holds inherent worth and the capacity for growth, and she creates a space where clients—especially teens and young adults—feel seen, respected, and encouraged.
Amy brings a warm, empathetic, and grounded presence to her counselling sessions, while also offering thoughtful challenge to support deeper insight and transformation. She draws from a range of modalities to best fit each client’s needs, with particular interest in narrative therapy, gestalt therapy, and group work. Her experience in the classroom allows her to connect authentically with youth and bridge the gap between emotional wellness, creativity, and identity development.

Kiya Giesbrecht, MC, RCC
Kiya has a master’s degree in counselling psychology and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Kiya joins Currents Counselling with a passion for working with children, youth and young adults in conjunction with their families. Kiya is welcoming to all and supports LGBTQIA2S+ with a person-centred approach & curiosity. She specializes in trauma and crisis intervention for high-risk youth & families, including suicide intervention and rebuilding hope. Working with parents and their children/adolescents, Kiya facilitates a safe environment for scary conversations, often utilizing an emotion-focused model. Kiya practices from a trauma-informed lens to create a safe space that holds room for insecurities, empathy & compassion. She often utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support those struggling with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation and trauma. She is also skilled in using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy.
